Young drifter Tim Jackson is riding through the high country in search of fresh supplies and a job. As Jackson readies his faithful mount for a new day, he becomes aware they are not alone in the dense woodland. Shots begin to rain down on him just as he catches a glimpse of someone high above in the undergrowth. Jack must summon every scrap of skill as a horseman and steer his grey stallion between the labyrinths of trees to escape the bullets. As the mount comes to a halt at the edge of the forest, Jackson notices a town ahead. Hoping to find work, and believing he has outrun the ambusher, Jackson rides in. Accepting the job of sheriff quickly makes him enemies and soon there are bullets coming at him from every direction.
