Nearly a year after his brother's suicide, life for sixteen-year-old Cliff "Neanderthal" Hubbard has gone from bad to worse. Then the star quarterback, Aaron Zimmerman, returns to school after a near-death experience claiming that he saw God, who gave him a list of things to do to improve Happy Valley High with Cliff's help. The list involves a vindictive English teacher, a computer hacker, a local cult, drug dealers, and the meanest bully at school. Cliff finally feels like he is a part of something, but fixing a broken school isn't as simple as it seems.
