When Jack discovers a dusty jar of Devil's Own Hot Tomato Pickle, dated 1984, he realises that it could be an experimental gold mine for a scientist like him. The potential of such an explosive brew would be incalculable! Maybe it could be used to power rockets! But when he finally gets the lid off the jar, and is hit by the evil stench of the pickle's fumes, he realises that it might help him to solve a problem of his own. Jack is no swimmer, and that disgusting stench could just give him a way to get out of competing in his school's swimming carnival! So Jack begins to plan.
For primary school age.
